There are 7 groups of pedigree dog breeds
- Hound Group - Great for scent work and enjoy any kind of hunting or scent activities. Most of these breeds need a substantial amount of exercise.
- Gundog Group - Make great family pets and need plenty of exercise and attention. As the name suggests they are popular gundogs and enjoy retrieving.
- Terrier Group - Full of fun, but can have a fiery temperament.
- Utility Group - Some of the most established breeds fall into this group and the breeds are quite diverse in character.
- Working Group - There are a number of guarding breeds in this group as well as search and rescue dogs. The heroes of the dog world!
- Pastoral Group - All the herding breeds.
- Toy Group - These are intelligent dogs that require more mental stimulation than physical. Providing they are not spoilt by their owners they are friendly breeds.
