Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

There are 4 breeds of dog that are banned under this act.

1. Pit Bull Terrier

2. Japanese Tosa

3. Dogo Argentino

4. Fila Brasileiro

The BBC website has pictures of these breeds.

However, any breed can be classed as a dangerous dog if it is out of control in a public place and a Judge decides the dog is a danger to the public.

For more information about the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and Wolf Hybrids visit the Defra website.

There is a new Dog Control Bill going through parliament that is set to replace the Dangerous Dogs Act and other laws.  Read the full details here
