Dog Crate

If you are buying a puppy or a dog that hasn't been house trained, then it is a good idea to get a dog crate.  This can be used as the puppies bedroom and should never be used as a punishment.  The crate should be a place where your puppy feels safe and where he sleeps at night.   This has more than one benefit.  Firstly, it means that your puppy will sleep anywhere as you can take his crate with you.  This can also be helpful for car journeys.  Secondly, it helps to toilet train your puppy as dogs don't mess in their sleeping area unless they really can't help it.  Just bear in mind that as soon as you let them out of the crate you will need to take them straight outside so that they can go to the toilet.

Make sure you choose the right size as your puppy/dog needs to be able to turn around inside the crate.

The price of dog crates varies and generally you do get what you pay for.  Below are a few examples of good quality dog crates;
