Flyball

This is a great sport for excitable, energetic dogs like border collies.  There are teams of 4 dogs and handlers and one person to load the balls.  The dogs have to go over 4 hurdles (12 inches high) to a Flyball box, that releases a tennis ball when the dog activates the pedal.  The dog must catch the ball then run back to the handler over the 4 hurdles.  Once the first dog crosses the finish line the next dog can go.  The winning team is the one whose 4th dog crosses the finishing line first.  Most competitions will do the best of three in order to decide, which team has won.  Below is the video of the Flyball teams at Crufts 2007.

The British Flyball Association website has an introduction to Flyball video for anyone interested in taking up this sport.  They also have details of local clubs.
