A visit to the vets can be costly so Pet Insurance is a sensible investment for any pet owner.  When deciding which pet insurance policy to take out, look at what the insurance covers.  This will help you get value for money.

Things to look for include;

- Does the insurance cover ongoing illnesses like diabetes

- How much is the excess

- Is there any expensive surgical proceedures that aren't covered

- How much are you insured for if your dog bites someone or damages someone elses property

The main thing is to know what you want the policy to cover before you start looking.  The cheapest pet insurance may be false economy.  Sometimes it is worth paying more to get the cover that you need.  Like most things, you get what you pay for!
